Hi there! I’m Sydney, the voice behind A World in Reach. As a young adult with a lifelong passion for travel, I founded this blog to help other young adults wishing to experience the world while traveling on a budget.

Born and raised in Kentucky, I stepped foot outside of the United States for the first time in 2015, studying abroad for two weeks in Ireland. While I do not regret the experience at all, I do regret how much money I spent (over $6,000 – with scholarships!).

After that trip, I was completely addicted to travel, and I was determined to see as much of the world as possible at a fraction of the cost. Since that trip to Ireland in 2015, I have traveled abroad numerous times. I studied abroad three more times while in college (spending less than $6000 on those three experiences combined), took several independently-planned trips with friends, and made time to explore more of my own country.

Along the way, I’ve gathered a wealth of knowledge on how to explore the world on a budget without sacrificing on comfort or experiences. My mission for A World in Reach is to inspire and educate other young travelers so that they can do the same!

Who reads A World in Reach?

Our audience is mainly comprised of female (90%) young adults age 25-34 and 18-24 from the United States (64% of readers). Our typical readers are either university students or young professionals beginning their career, excited to explore the world for the first time. Readers of A World in Reach are interested in itineraries combining a destination’s top sights, off-the-beaten path gems, and free time for exploring like a local. Readers are also interested in traveling on a budget without sacrificing comfort or experiences – stylish Airbnbs, mid-range hotels, and upscale hostels are accommodations of choice.
